Editor-in-Chief/Fiction Editor–RalphPennel:

Ralph Pennel is a founding editor of Midway Journal and has served as the journal’s only fiction editor since the journal’s launch. He is the author of A World Less Perfect for Dying In, published by Cervena Barva Press. His fiction, poetry, and nonfiction/essays have appeared in The Ocean State Review, The Iowa Review, F(r)iction, South Dakota Review, The Worcester Review, Elm Leaves Journal, Boston Art Review, Rain Taxi Review of Books and various other publications. His work has been nominated for numerous awards and honors, such as Pushcarts, a Best of the Net Award, the Best Small Fictions Anthology, and he is the recipient of several grants, including a grant from the MLA. Ralph curates the Knox is Lit! Reading Series at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and the Triple-A Reading Series in collaboration with the Artisan Gallery in Binghamton, New York. Nonfiction Editor–Suzanne Richardson:

Suzanne Richardson earned her M.F.A. in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the University of New Mexico. She currently lives in Binghamton, New York, where she’s a writer, teacher, and Ph.D. candidate in creative writing at SUNY Binghamton. She is the coeditor of the anthology Roll with Advantage: Creative, Collaborative, and Critical Responses to Dungeons & Dragons (Play Story Press 2025). She is the author of the poetry collection The Want Monster (Northwestern University Press 2027), which was named a finalist for the 2024 Saturnalia Press Book Awards. Poetry Editor–Samantha R. Sharp:

Samantha R. Sharp is a scholar and educator from Florida. Having earned her BA in Secondary Education and her MA in English, Samantha is currently a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature at SUNY Binghamton. Her primary research areas are ecopoetics and Slavic literatures, and you can find her scholarly work in the recently published Cinematic Ecosystems: Screen Encounters with More-than-Humans in the Era of Environmental Crisis from Vernon Press. Recent creative work has appeared in EcoTheo ReviewNonBinary Review, and Wild Roof Journal. She enjoys traveling, and has spent time living in Armenia and Estonia. She also enjoys spending time with animals, especially cats and sheep. She first joined the Midway team in 2022.

Mixed-Media/Multi-Genre Editor–Prema Bangera:

Prema Bangera (she/they), who is ethnically South Indian (from Tulu Nadu) of lower caste, born in Mumbai, and partially raised on the unceded land of the Pawtucket and Massachusett people (so-called Boston), is a multidisciplinary artist, a community organizer, a cultural worker, a disruptor, an educator, and an editor. 

Her writing and artwork has appeared in various publications and showcased at the Boston City Hall, Harvard’s Crossing Gallery, GBH’s Outspoken series, and painted on the streets of the unceded Naumkeag lands (so-called Salem, MA) as part of the Raining Project at the Massachusetts Poetry Festival. Their work, in collaboration with organizations, has been highlighted in the AAMARP Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. 

Bangera is the founder of a grassroots consulting & nonprofit arts organization called BIPoC Ancestral Love as Arts (BALA) aimed to uplift QTDBIPoC community members through innovative arts practices. 

Fiction Reader–Alycia Calvert:

Alycia Calvert (she/her) is a neurodivergent queer author who is learning the exquisite agony of starting over at forty. Poetry Reader–Victoria Stargiotti:

Victoria Stargiotti is a recent graduate with a B.A. in English Literature and Classical Civilizations. As a reader for Midway, Victoria directs her love for philosophy, the avant-guarde, and experimental storytelling toward new and seasoned writers alike. She hopes to continue uplifting unique and creative voices throughout her readership, broadening the horizons of creative spaces.

Intern/nonfiction reader–Elaine Braunshweiger:

Elaine Braunshweiger is an English/Creative Writing and Comparative Literature Major at Binghamton University.  She is an intern for Midway Journal, and the co-Founding Editor-in-Chief of the undergrad-run lit mag Triple Cities.
