Mahmoud Elmardi

Mahmoud Elmardi is a Sudanese visual artist and novelist (b. 1988) rooted in the heritage of Khartoum and the historic city of Bahri. A graduate of Sudan University of Science & Technology, he is a winner of the Katara Prize for both the Novel and Fine Arts (2022). Elmardi is the author of the novels The Secret of the Chisel and The Lost in Mango Orchards, and is currently developing an upcoming project titled The Walls of Guernica, which merges narrative storytelling with abstract art.
