Stephanie Schultz’s poems and essays have appeared most recently in Wild Quarterly, Blotterature, Diverse Voices Quarterly, Paddlefish, and Prairie Gold: An Anthology of the American Heartland, and are forthcoming in South Dakota Magazine. She received her MFA in creative writing from Hamline University, and lives in St. Paul, MN, just two miles from the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
We thought we hated it— the town one square mile, population under 1700, so small our high school was in a different town.
