My chair takes to air I need a stepladder
in the steam that powers me to see the damp
I hear my parents say neighbors watching
“You are crazy” once I was afraid
but now I’m not I take the bait each day
in the steam, a fin and I hear the train cars
in my chest, a great shark coupling because I live
with a stone hedge of teeth turning once in the town’s deep
and the ground’s salt of oblivion, thinking
my leg is off the train!
